We 6 went for a late Sunday lunch,4.30pm, wonderful hospitality, delicious food, amazing beer (Black Sheep Cask Best Bitter). The team were so friendly and helpful. We sat outside for one before we ordered, such a postcard setting! The Topside of Beef roast was 10/10, the Hare Pie got a rave review, the filo must roast was very well received. An excellent pub!

Great little countryside pub, we were staying in the village and booked to have meals at the pub on 3 occasions. 2 beautiful dinners at night home cooked food and 1 Sunday lunch great Yorkshire pudding. I emailed the owner Jake to book and say it was my boyfriend birthday and my parents 60 wedding anniversary they pulled out all the stops for us making our experience even more special. All staff friendly professional and polite. can not wait to come back one day and next time stay in one of their lovely rooms. Thank you Jake and team

A charming old pub in the middle of a quaint, gorgeous village in Yorkshire between York and Whitby, The Crown was empty when we arrived in the early afternoon. They had a selection of bitters and cask ales. I had a piny of Wainwright and my wife a half shandy. The staff were very friendly. There was a fire blazing and we accessed their wifi as there was no cellular reception in the area while we enjoyed our drinks. We did not eat, but the menu looked nice although the prices were a bit steep for such an isolated location. They also have three double rooms that are ridiculously expensive, running between £200 and £220 per night in mid-February. The village is quiet and absolutely beautiful with old rock buildings and cottages as well as a creek running from the old church at the top of the hill through the small valley that surrounds Hutton-le-Hole. This is a review of our dining experience. The service was nice and friendly. Only one veg option was available at 1730 on a Wednesday, which was lentil sweet potato curry and rice. Home made steak pie was supposed to be in short crust (it was written in large font on the menu) but it was a puff pastry, presumably, ultra processed. My partner enjoyed his pork belly. I had a bottle of sparkling water and the glass had a smell of beer that made the water undrinkable to me. The pub was recommended by our accommodation and it was very popular. The ambience was warm and cozy.

A warm welcome., super cosy, great food...a perfect country pub! We also booked last minute and my sister has just been diagnosed with celiac, so we were unsure if they would be able to accommodate. They offered numerous gluten free food options and confident assurances that they understood what celiac was and that the food would not be contaminated. The confident and friendly manner in which they did this meant my sister was able to relax and not worry and this meant a lot as she noted many restaurants aren't able to do this. Thank you to everyone at the Crown... the owner, the chefs and waiters!

We called in tonight with our 2 kids and unfortunately had to leave before ordering food as our youngest was sick. The hosts packaged up our entire intended food order (and then some!) ready for us to eat when we got back to our nearby accommodation. An amazing show of humanity given how devastated we was having realised our little one was poorly on holiday! A huge hats off to the staff at the Crown for saving our night (and stomachs) on a sunday night when it would have been near impossible to get food anywhere else. Needless to say the food was absolutely delicious! 🤤 Thank you everyone at the Crown ❤️❤️

I stopped here with a walking group for drinks, so cannot comment on the food or accommodation. It was a busy, friendly, traditional bar with a reasonable choice of hand-pulled beers, plenty of seating outside, and very efficient and affable barman. We all enjoyed our visit and would certainly go there again.

Lovely village and setting. Lots of seating outside. Sadly, next to no food available due to fridge disaster. Lots of coach tours turning up so lots of footfall in and out, which really spoilt the atmosphere. A real shame. The man working behind the bar was extremely welcoming and helpful.
